Your main problem with burrying so shallow will be destroying the cable inadvertantly. So from this point of view, the conduit and extra trench depth makes a lot of sense. You don't want to have to dig up your yard again if you can help it. Electrocution will not really be a factor. If, for example, you decide to dig a hole for a tree on the very same spot you have your wire burried, you'll end up grounding the wire and blowing the breaker. The only thing you'll notice is that the lights no longer work and you'll have to dig another trench and lay new wire again. Do yourself a favor and rent a trencher and dig it 24" and lay down drain tile for conduit. Overkill? Yes! but a job well done.

I agree Don. I had a "Red" dealer an hour away that I would've loved to patronize but I liked the "Orange" product better. Reason: I bought a used tractor from the "Red" dealer. He "bent over backwords" to make sure everything was satisfactory. I had a problem and that day he was at my house with wrench in hand.
When I talked to my local Kubota dealer(<10 mins away) about the tractor I wanted, He wouldn't even come close to the price ($2k-$3k difference) I eventually got from a "distant" dealer who was very friendly and helpful. I simply asked if he could do a little better on the price, that's all. He made it seem as if I was wasting his time (in fact he said something similar). Just the attitude turned me off.
Bottom line, you the consumer, are the Boss when dishing out your hard earned $$$. You've got the right to shop around. Free enterprize built this country. You can't whine about territorial rights in retail business. If you are "The Best" you won't need to!

This is one of the things Steve Carver warned me about when I got my tractor. He mentioned it specifically so that I would not have any unnecessary concerns. I have not experienced it with my 2710 however but with other tractors.

5' blower here. No problems running it. You need the loader or weights on the front however.
